* Valid ID is a card issued by a legitimate educational resource which includes the students photo and proof of current enrollment.

** Driver may ask for proof of eligibility. A MAX discount card, Medicare Card or a Dial-A-Ride card is acceptable proof of eligibility for the Senior/ Disabled fare. ADA ID from other transit systems is acceptable.

*** Available to Preschool, Elementary and Junior High School class field trips on a regularly scheduled bus. Trips must be prearranged and prepaid. Call  (209) 521-1274 for details.

(Monthly passes are good for unlimited riding by one person during the month for which the pass is issued.)

Monthly passes are discounted the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th week of each month. Monthly passes are not sold on MAX buses. They are available by mail or at MAX Pass Outlets. See "Purchase by Mail" section below.

(All ride tickets are valid during all hours of bus service and do not have a time or date limitation.)

* Junior High students and older, plus seniors and disabled persons must show a valid I.D. when purchasing or using passes or tickets.
Ticket books are available only at the City's Finance Department, 1010 10th St., Suite 2100, 2nd Floor (corner 10th & J), Modesto, MAX Office, 1001 9th St. (Downtown Transit Center), or by mail.
DISABLED PASSENGER ATTENDANTS RIDE FREE ONLY WHEN ASSISTING DISABLED PASSENGERS ON AND OFF MAX.  ATTENDANT MUST PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO BOARD OR EXIT THE BUS AND/OR UNDERSTAND INSTRUCTIONS AND DIRECTIONS. ATTENDANTS MUST GET ON AND OFF AT SAME LOCATION AS THE DISABLED PERSON BEING ATTENDED.

PURCHASE BY MAIL

You may purchase any MAX monthly pass or ticket book by mail.

Make a check or money order payable to City of Modesto, and mail to:

Tell us what you want and provide us with your name and mailing address - we'll handle it from there.

The first time you purchase a Student or Senior/Disabled pass or ticket book by mail you must send a photocopy of acceptable proof of eligibility. Remember, discount pass and ticket users (Student and Senior/Disabled) must also show proof of eligibility to driver.
