MAX to AMTRAK INFORMATION

The Modesto Amtrak station can be reached by using Modesto Area Express ( MAX), Modesto Area Dial-A-Ride (DAR) or taxicab. MAX Route 25 connects the Downtown Transportation Center with the Amtrak station Monday through Saturday. Many routes connect with Route 25 at the Transportation Center, providing access to the entire Modesto urban area. DAR and taxicab service is also available to the station during some times when MAX does not operate.

BAGGAGE on MAX

Only carry-on baggage is allowed, items must be stored under the passenger’s seat. Passengers with carry-on items that cannot be stored in this manner are not allowed to ride the bus. For more information call 521-1274.

MAX operates on weekdays only, excluding the following holidays:

Rules of the Bus

No smoking allowed on the bus.
No eating or drinking on the bus. All food and drinks must be in completely sealed containers. Beverages must have screw-on lids. No drinks with straws allowed.
Personal items must be carried into the bus in one trip. They shall be kept out of the aisle and out of the way of other passengers. Strollers and recreational scooters must be folded. No refuse allowed, including recyclable items.
No animals allowed, except in carriers that can be placed outside of aisle or service animals, (guide dogs, etc.).
Shirts, and shoes must be worn on the bus. Roller blades may not be worn.
Profanity (swearing or cursing) is not allowed.
No sound equipment may be played on the bus unless sound cannot be heard by others.
No weapons of any kind allowed on the bus.
No boisterous or unruly behavior allowed.
Misuse of transfers, passes or tickets with the intent to evade fare payment is illegal.
Expectorating (spitting) upon system facilities or vehicles is illegal.
No littering in or on buses, or at bus stops is allowed.

The Modesto Amtrak Station is served by the Amtrak San Joaquins Train. All trains between Oakland and Bakersfield offer sit-down dining service, and sandwiches, snacks and beverages, as well as Railfone® On-board Telephone Service. All trains are equipped with a limited number of bike racks—call Amtrak for information. Smoking is not permitted.
